Leading by Example: Dr. Adrian Fox and the Power of Purpose

Published November 19, 2025 — International Men’s Day

International Men's Day is about celebrating the men who show up—not just for themselves, but for their communities. Men who turn their success into service. Men who understand that true strength means lifting others up.

Dr. Adrian Fox is one of those men.

Born and raised in the Bahamas, Dr. Fox didn't start with privilege. He worked restaurant jobs as a teenager at Atlantis Resort—Captain Nemo's, Café Martinique, 5 Twins—while running small businesses on the side. A hair salon. A phone card business. A newspaper stand. He learned early that hard work opens doors, but it was what he did after those doors opened that defines his legacy.

In 2009, he founded Island Luck, which grew into the leading gaming and lottery service in the Bahamas. Success followed—Brickell Real Estate, ILTV, Trésor Rare Parfumerie. But Dr. Fox never forgot where he came from or the struggles he witnessed growing up. He remembered the hurricanes. The devastation. The families left with nothing. The young people with limited opportunities.

So he did something about it.

Building a Foundation for Change

The Fox Foundation was born from lived experience. Dr. Fox understood that waiting for outside help wasn't enough—the Bahamas needed sustainable, long-term solutions. The foundation focuses on four pillars: Education, Youth Development, Community Building, and Disaster Relief.

When Hurricane Dorian devastated Abaco in 2019, Dr. Fox didn't just write a check. The Fox Foundation coordinated private vessels for evacuations, partnered with the Buddy Hield Foundation to distribute food, water, and generators, and launched a global fundraising campaign. When volcanic eruptions struck St. Vincent, he sent ships with supplies to the hardest-hit areas.

When COVID-19 crippled the Bahamas' tourism-dependent economy, leaving thousands without work, Dr. Fox and the foundation stepped up again—not just with immediate relief, but with a vision for economic resilience through education and skills training.

His work hasn't gone unnoticed. Dr. Fox was honored with Adrian Fox Day in both North Charleston and Summerville, South Carolina, for his global relief efforts. He was appointed Global Patron and Head Patron for the Bahamas within the international youth network for United Nations Security Council Resolution 2250, earning him the title "Honorable" and recognition from the UN for his commitment to youth empowerment.

What Real Leadership Looks Like

Dr. Fox represents the kind of leadership we need more of—not just in the Bahamas, but everywhere. Leadership that remembers where it came from. Leadership that sees success as a responsibility, not just a reward. Leadership that understands community isn't just a buzzword—it's survival.

On International Men's Day, we celebrate men like Dr. Adrian Fox who prove that the measure of a man isn't just what he achieves for himself, but what he builds for others. His foundation has raised over $5 million in aid. But more importantly, it's changing the conversation about what's possible when Bahamians invest in Bahamians.

That's the kind of impact that lasts. That's the kind of legacy that matters.

To every man out there working hard, giving back, and showing the next generation what it means to lead with purpose—thank you. You're making a difference, even when it feels like nobody's watching.

Happy International Men's Day. 💙
